  • "We bought 1/4 of a cow last fall and the beef has been excellent quality, not too fatty with very tasty flavor. We've cooked steaks and roasts. The filet is my favorite and the ribeye is my husband's! Most often we're cooking the ground beef...for tacos, spaghetti, chili, and meatballs. As long as Rocking Q is selling, we're buying our beef from them!"
    -Stacy J.

  • "We really enjoyed the meats that we've had from Rocking Q Ranch! We have had their steak (ribeye), roasts, and hamburger. All were tasty!!" -Jennifer D.

  • "This is by far the best quality meat I have ever had. Much better than anything you would buy in the grocery store and without all the additives. I purchased a 1/2 cow and have enjoyed the steaks for grilling, briskets for BBQing, and hamburger for everyday meal planning. Rocking Q Ranch will be my new "grocery store" when it comes to buying beef!" -Katie E.

  • Rocking Q Ranch launched in June 2022.  With a few acres, just as many cows and a lot of hard work, we were committed to doing things the right way.  Our grass-fed/grain-finished beef is raised how nature intended without any of the harmful vaccinations, genetically modified grains, and questionable treatment of the animals you will find in most available sources. We control every element of the animal’s diet by maintaining the pastures they roam, producing and baling the hay they consume and preparing our own grain mix for finishing.

We are proud to be a part of the farm-to-table movement and to be able to offer our customers the highest quality meat that is full of mouth-watering flavor with each and every forkful. Our beef’s richness stems from the meat’s marbling, contributing to its flavor, tenderness, and texture.  The distributed fat in the meat melts as the beef cooks, self-marinating the meat and resulting in an incredible flavor.  The energy-dense grains like corn and barley that cattle consume during finishing contribute to this richness and sweetness.  Our goal is to provide our customer with access to beef that you can brag about, characterized by a fattier, creamier, and more mellow, buttery flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of beef cattle do you raise?

We raise Black Angus and Brangus cattle, which are born and raised on our farm or sourced from like-minded ranchers in our region.

What do your cattle eat?

Our cattle are grass-fed, grain-finished, and pasture-raised on our land. Our pastures are diverse and filled with grasses, flowers, willows, timothy, red clover, white clover, bermuda, bahia and more, resulting in nutrient-rich beef. We also source grass-fed and grass-finished cattle from like-minded ranchers in our region.

Do you use antibiotics or hormones on your cattle?

No, we do not use any hormones or sub-therapeutic antibiotics on our cattle. In rare and necessary cases, we may use antibiotics to treat a sick calf, but those animals are removed from the meat program and will never end up on your plate.

Do you use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, or fungicides?

No, we do not use any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, or fungicides on our pastures.

How are your animals treated?

Our animals are treated humanely and are raised in a low-stress, natural environment. They have access to spacious, clean, fresh pastures their entire lives, and we prioritize low-stress livestock handling. We believe in providing our cattle with the means to express their particular “animalness” and living a natural, healthy life.

Is your beef certified organic?

We are not currently certified organic, but we manage our pastures and livestock in a way that is in line with organic standards and even goes beyond them.

Where is your farm located?

Our home-base is Tallahassee, Florida with additional farms located in North Florida and South Georgia.

Where do you get your cattle processed?

We take our beef to a small, super clean, local and family-owned USDA processor that we’ve worked with for years. Your beef will dry age for 14 days before our expert butchers cut, vacuum seal, and freeze your beef in their facility.

How long is the frozen beef good for?

With the heavy-duty packaging and vacuum seal our butcher uses, our beef will last indefinitely, although USDA recommendations are to use it within 1 year.

Is your beef dry-aged?

Yes, our beef hangs in the carcass for two weeks before being made into cuts. This intensifies the flavor and increases tenderness.

What is dry aging?

Dry aging is the process in which beef is aged in a temperature-controlled environment for a specific length of time before it is trimmed and then cut. The dry aging process is unique in its ability to intensify the natural flavors of the beef while imparting a tenderness that you cannot replicate with unaged beef.

Can I choose my cuts?

You don't have to worry about the cuts of meat. We did the work for you! We have you covered from ground beef to steaks!

How will my beef be packaged and shipped?

All your beef will come in vacuum-sealed packages that can last well over a year in your freezer. We ship your beef frozen in a sturdy cardboard box with a thermal liner. Depending on the temperature outside and the distance your boxes are traveling we will use multiple ice packs and/or dry ice to ensure your beef arrives completely frozen.

Will I be able to track my package?

Yes, once your label is created you will receive an email with your tracking number.

When will my package be sent to me?

We ship beef on Mondays and sometimes on Tuesdays to ensure your package doesn't get delayed and accidentally spend the weekend in a sorting facility. You will be notified before your package is schedule to ship to ensure you will be home.

How much freezer space do I need to buy in bulk?

  • Our eighth beef is between 50-60lbs and requires about 2 cubic feet of freezer space. This could fit in a standard fridge/freezer combo.
  • Our quarter beef is between 100-120lbs and requires about 4 cubic feet of freezer space. A small deep freezer is needed.
  • Our half beef is between 200-220lbs and requires about 8 cubic feet of freezer space. A medium to full-sized deep freezer is recommended.
