Meet the Rocking Q Ranch Team
We owe our way of life in large part to the generations that came before us. Our family is fortunate enough to have agrarian roots dating back to the early 1800’s when our family homesteaded 100+ acres in Tallahassee, Florida. To support themselves, they used the property to grow crops and to raise turkeys, chickens, pigs and cows. They were the main supplier of chicken eggs to Florida State University when it was a women’s college. Today’s generation shares the same agrarian passion as our ancestors, adapting to modern challenges.
Delbert’s Irish roots run deep gifting him with a love of farming and raising animals. He has an affinity for the science of breeding and caring for dogs, horses and cattle. Delbert has bred, trained and competed with German Shepherds most of his adult life. He would go on to win awards in National competitions with his German Shepherds and has worked with local law enforcement to train their K-9s for use in protection and tracking. In 2007, he expanded his attention to training horses when his daughter got her first horse and began competing in English and Western events. This led to Delbert breeding and training horses for personal use and for family and friends. Beginning in 2018, he turned his interest to breeding and raising cattle and in 2020 took a step in another direction when he began planting and harvesting hay for his own farm animals and to sale to local ranchers. In 2022, Delbert began his journey to join the farm-to-table movement with his beef products. He oversees planting and harvesting of the hay as well as daily work with the cow herd. He is hardworking, takes initiative, is always looking for a better way, caring, and loves the land.
